Sutton Street is a three-storey architectural residence shaped by the challenges and opportunities of its sloping site.

Rather than working against the natural fall of the land, the home uses it to establish a layered relationship between basement, ground and upper-floor spaces.

Construction & Engineering

The site's topography required substantial structural works from the outset.

Basement construction, retaining walls and bored-pier foundations established the structure from which the remainder of the residence could develop.

These works demanded careful management of excavation, levels, access and construction sequencing before much of the visible architecture could take shape.

Architecture & Materials

The exterior combines rendered masonry with bluestone and aluminium composite cladding, creating a distinctly contemporary material composition. Power-operated external louvres provide solar control while adding movement and depth to the façade.

Internally, polished concrete at ground level contrasts with European oak flooring above. Custom two-pack cabinetry, marble surfaces and porcelain finishes continue the home's restrained architectural language.

An indoor spa, hydronic heating and integrated bulkhead heating and cooling add another layer of technical coordination behind the finished spaces.
