Denmark Street is a highly detailed architectural residence designed around the relationship between the home, landscape and water.
The project comprises a two-storey main residence, rooftop terrace and separate guest house, together with an outdoor swimming pool and an enclosed fish pond integrated into the main building.
Architectural Approach
A carefully composed exterior palette brings together rendered masonry, standing-seam metal cladding and natural timber. Bluestone paving and timber decking extend these materials into the landscape, creating a strong connection between the architecture and its outdoor spaces.
Inside, bluestone and engineered timber flooring establish a natural material palette, complemented by custom timber-veneer joinery, Caesarstone surfaces and a sculptural metal spiral staircase connecting the first floor to the rooftop terrace.
Construction & Engineering
The apparent simplicity of the finished architecture conceals a considerably more complex structure.
The project incorporated screw piles, bored piers and suspended concrete construction, while the fish pond required shotcrete walls integrated within the main residence.
Coordinating these structural elements with the swimming pool, rooftop terrace, extensive glazing, landscaping and building services required careful consideration of construction sequencing throughout the build.
The result is a home where architecture, structure, landscape and water feel like parts of a single composition.
